Before the Shoot
I will give you some homework to do before the shoot day. It will make
it easier for you to get into the moods you want in your pictures.
¤ The day of the shoot
For both men and women, arrive as you would for an audition. Women, wear your hair as you would on a normal day.
Drink plenty of water before the shoot, it helps your skin look great.
Here are some things that I feel
help you to stay clear and focussed.
- Get plenty of rest the night before.
- Try not to schedule anything before or after the shoot that results in you having to rush.
Give yourself plenty of time, and relax.
- The day of a shoot is not the time to go without food. Eat your breakfast!
- Leave your daily life behind. I try to create a friendly environment without the distractions
of the outside world so you can concentrate on your headshot.
¤ What to bring
A shooting session is a long time to stay focused. We take breaks. Bring some snacks and beverages.
It's important for you to keep your energy levels up, your interest keen, and your mind focussed.
You are welcome to bring friends and family. You might feel more relaxed if a close friend is there,
maybe one who is also an aspiring actor.
¤ Clothes
Extreme light and dark clothes work great. Try to avoid strong patterns and bright colors. Logos are
very distracting, drawing attention away from you. Remember, your head is the subject of a headshot.
Bring enough clothes so that we have choices for all the looks. Elizabeth and I can help you decide what to wear.
These are guidelines only; anything goes if it fits the look.
¤ About odors
It is common courtesy to wear little or no cologne or perfume during professional
interactions such as a photo session. I ask that you abide by this.
